During the winter season, from November to March, Gangotri Temple remains closed due to heavy snowfall. However, the idols from the temple are moved to Mukhba and Kharsail in the Uttarkashi district during this period. The Uttarakhand government has made efforts to enable year-round worship of the deities, with the idols being relocated back to the temple in April. Kindly note that winter visits to Gangotri are not feasible due to the temple closure.
